www.nepalpressfreedom.org is Freedom Forum's outlet dedicated to monitoring of freedom of expression and press freedom violation in Nepal. It is the first of its kind launched in the country with the background of growing hostility to press freedom, attack on media houses and journalists and other intimidations triggered by the 2005 Royal coup. The portal showcases the press freedom violations as threats, attack, manhandle, vandalism among others faced by journalists and media houses. The incidents are monitored with verification and cross-verification to ascertain whether these are truly press freedom violations. In addition to this, FF updates the news on policies, laws and directives directly related to FoE, press freedom and impunity relating to crime against journalists.
As the one-stop site on Nepal's FoE and press freedom, the website facilitates FoE activists and campaigners, right defenders, journalists, researchers and the entire media fraternity. The violation stories updated here are also updated to international freedom of expression organizations- IFEX.
The purpose of the website is not only to facilitate the study and research on FoE and press freedom of Nepal but also to build the atmosphere conducive to the functional democracy.
The website is promoted and run by Freedom Forum, Thapathali, Kathmandu.
