Journalists misbehaved for seeking information

Freedom Forum condemns an incident where journalists in Sankhuwasabha district were misbehaved in an ongoing program conducted by One Heart Worldwide organization. The incident occurred on 17 March. Sankhuwasabha is a hilly district situated in Province 1 of Nepal.

According to information shared by FF's representative, journalist Sujan Bajracharya from Nepal Television, Dipendra Shakya from Kantipur TV and Baawin Karki from Avenues TV jointly submitted a written application in the program conducted by the organization. District coordinator of the organization, Rajib Kumar Sharma misbehaved with the journalist for seeking information amidst the program. He spoke foul words to the journalists and restrained from giving information.

The journalists' trio had demanded information regarding the budget expenses by the organization in the district.  One Heart Worldwide organization is an organization working for the health sector reforms. However, their work in the district is reportedly questionable. 
Freedom Forum condemns the incident as misbehaving with the journalists for seeking information is against press freedom. Journalists have right to reach to the news and RTI is one of the tools to reach such ends. Misbehavior towards journalist is condemnable.
