Freedom Forum is concerned over the misbehavior meted out to Sunsari based journalists by Mayor Dwarik Lal Chaudhari while reporting about a staff manhandled at Itahari Sub-Metropolitan Office on May 22. The incident took place in Itahari, Province 1, which is the eastern part of Nepal.
Mayor Chaudhari, who aggressively responded to the journalists said, ''I am not interested to address your questions.'' He added that no one had proof that staffs were physically abused in his office. Therefore, journalists must not dare to ask him questions related to it.
Journalists putting forth query before the Mayor were Krishna Bahab Bhattara, associated with www.pradeshportal.com news portal and Bikal Regmi with Prime Television.
Freedom Forum condemns the verbal abuse of journalists by the Mayor while reporting about the manhandle that took place at Sub-Metropolitan Office.Exposing malpractices and corruption on any public concern issues is the duty of journalists. FF therefore urges the Mayor respect journalists' rights and help ensure their safety.
