Journalists misbehaved

Staffs at a hotel in Nepalgunj city misbehaved with the reporters associated with Avenues Television namely Durga Rokaya, Jageshwor Chaudhary and Bhim Rokaya on July 10. Nepalgunj lies in Banke district of Province 5, Nepal.

According to the information sent by FF's representative for Province 5, Sudeep Gautam, the reporters had reached Hotel Vatika for follow-up reporting on news published a month ago. The news was about the arrest of a group along with illegally collected Rs 3.5 million  from the hotel.

"While taking videos in the hotel premises, the hotel staffs misbehaved with reporters asking to delete the footages. They also damaged their camera and phones", reported representative Gautam.

It has been reported that hotel staffs had earlier called the reporters to discuss and solve the matter following the incident.

Intimidating journalists on duty is violation of press freedom. Reporting and verifying the news contents is natural in journalism. FF strongly urges the concerned people to respect the rights of journalists. Free flow of information can not be restricted.
