Locals manhandle journalist Sejuwal while reporting

Journalist Bibas Kumar Sejuwal was manhandled over the reporting on people's crowd amid COVID-19 lockdown in Surkhet on March 29. As the country is in lockdown, locals threatened journalist not to report on their gathering.  Surkhet lies in Karnali Province of Nepal.

Journalist Sejuwal is associated with News24 television.

Talking to Freedom Forum's representative for Karnali Province, Laxmi Bhandari,  journalist Sejuwal shared that he was obstructed and threatened not to record video mentioning that they were close people of the Provincial Minister.

Freedom Forum objects the misbehaviour meted out against journalist Sejuwal. The people must respect journalists' right to free reporting. Any activity suppressing journalists' right are unacceptable for free press. People's good behaviour to journalists is also helpful to create atmosphere favourable to press freedom.
