Reporter Paneru attacked for reporting news

A reporter with www.khaptadonline.com Manmohan Paneru was attacked by an unknown group for reporting news on June 30 in Doti district. Doti lies in the Far-west Province of Nepal.

According to FF's representative for Far-west Province Min Bam, reporter Paneru was attacked while returning back home after work. Attackers in a group of three attacked Paneru for reporting news critical to those, informed Bam quoting Paneru.

Reporter Paneru somehow managed to escape the attack and reported to the District Police Office about the attack.

Police has started investigation on the case, said, representative Bam.

Freedom Forum is concerned over the attack as it is a sheer violation of press freedom. Despite ways to express dissatisfaction over news content, attacking journalists for doing their job is condemnable. Hence, FF urges the security authority to investigate the case fairly and punish the perpetrators thus, ensuring safe reporting atmosphere for journalists.
