Hooligans attack media house

A group of hooligans pelted stones at the office of a national daily, Janakpur Today, in Janakpurdha, Dhanusha on August 26. Dhanusha district lies in Province 2 of Nepal.

According to FF's representative Rajan Singh, they not only attacked media house but also attacked daily's Editor-In-Chief Brij Kumar Yadav and his families in his home.

He however said the hooligans attacked the editor and media house over the issue not related to media.

Speaking to FF representative, editor Yadav said,"If they had any other issue thye follow legal recourse. But vandalizing media house and effort to attack my family members is intolerable. I am preparing to file the case against them."

The media house has been closed for fear among journalists after the incident.

Freedom Forum is concerned over attack on media house. Attacking media and obstructing journalism is against press freedom so it is condemnable. FF strongly urges the concerned authority to book attackers.
