Reporter attacked in Dhangadi

Reporter to Radio Dhangadhi 90.5 MHz and https://dhangadhikhabar.com/, Sher Bahadur Ayer was severely injured in an attacked on March 11. The incident took place in Kailali district, Far-west Province of Nepal.

According to Ayer, he was attacked at around 9 pm while returning back to home from the hotel after atttending a province level conference on management of Sickle cell disease in the province.

An unknown person suddenly attacked him in the hotel premises. Ayer sustained severe injuries on his head and has received five stitches on the wound.

Ayer has been reporting on the health sector for long and during the program too, private hospitals' owners and journalists had critically discussion about current issues in health sector, said reporter Ayer.

"We have reported about the incident at District Police Office, Kailali and the Superintendant of Police has initiated the investigation", informed Ayer.

Freedom Forum condemns the attack upon the media persons. FF has recorded two incidents of severe attack upon journalists in a week. Hence, FF draws serious attention of the concerned authority to pay heed to  the cases and investigate fairly. Impunity in such cases may create panic among fellow journalists and affect professional journalism.
