Reporter to Krishna daily, Basanta Lama was attacked over news on September 16 in Bara. Bara district lies in Madhesh Province of Nepal.
Talking to Freedom Forum, reporter Lama shared that Teraipostonline.com had published news quoting him as an informant regarding news about massive deforestation of the national forest in Rautahat, Madhesh Province on September 15.
The news mentioned that locals of surrounding area reportedly cleared the forest area while the administration was controlling the violent protests ongoing in different places of the district.
Following news publication, few people called him for a meeting and then assaulted him.
"I have informed local police about the incident and am waiting for police investigation", stated Lama.
Freedom Forum condemns the attack on journalist and strongly urges the concerned authorities to ensure his safety.
