Madhesi Party Cadres Vandalized Newspaper Office

Cadres of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF)-led by Bhagyanath Gupta barged in to the office of Pratik Daily, a media outlet from Birgunj and vandalized office and motorbike at around 2.15 PM on August 7, Thursday.

Taking out rally against the newspaper, a group of 50 cadres marched towards the office and resorted to vandalism for allegedly publishing news about misdeed of Kedar Teli, husband of Forum Women Wing Chairperson Rekha Shah, said journalist Birgunj-based journalist Satrughan Nepal.

The newspaper on July 31 exposed the reality that the complaint filed against locals Deepak Upadhyay and Dilip Upadhyay on charge of stealing motorbike of Teli was proved to be fake and baseless when it was found that he himself was riding the bike, added Nepal.

The miscreant group smashed window panes and furniture of newspaper contact office and chamber of Chief Editor, according to Nepal.

Freedom Forum strongly condemns the incident of vandalism in the office terming it a naked interference on journalist right to flow accurate and factual information. The Forum asks the government and local authority to immediately book the guilty and take strong actions so that other group may also do not dare to continue such heinous crime against media and also demands necessary compensation and security to media house and media persons.
