Annapurna Post's Journalist attacked over reporting

Kathmandu-Rajdhan Rai and Kishor Budhathoki, local correspondents of Nepal FM and Annapurna Post national daily respectively, were severely beaten up by members of Khandbari Yuba Club at Pokhari Bazaar in Khandbari  of eastern Sakhuwasabha district on July 20.

Over two dozen youths smeared black on the faces on the journalists and took them around the local market over a news report on Sunday morning.

The youths came to agitation and attacked journalists saying that the FM and daily had disseminated news about furniture being taken away from the District Development Committee building allegedly by the club members.

Freedom Forum strongly deplores the incident of assault on journalist by the club members. It is the straight violation of press freedom and shameful act perpetrated by the responsible people of the society, said Freedom Forum. The Forum also demands with the concerned authority to investigate and take legal actions against the guilty at the earliest.
