Journalists attacked during protest

During the Maoists' nation-wide protest against the cabinet decision last week to reverse the Maoist government's decision of sacking the army chief Rookmangu Katawal, several anti-press incident occurred on June 21.

In an incident in Kathmandu, Maoists pelted stones on camera belonging to the Republica and Nagarik Daily's photojournalist Bijaya Rai. The lens was broken by a stone pelted by the Maoists.

Similarly Journalists duo Niraj Sapkota and Balkrishna Thapa were also injured during the scuffle.

Freedom Forum condemns all these incidents and urges the concern political party to exercise restraint in the days to come.
