Pramod Sah, the director of Radio Janakpur, was thrashed and injured by an unidentified gang at his residence in Janakpur located in the southern plain of Nepal on July 18, Sunday.
A police patrol team intervened and rescued Sah. At the time of intervention, three attackers were nabbed by police force.
Some 11 persons came to journalist Sah's home at around 8:30 pm and severely attacked him with iron rods and canes leaving him unconscious.
Sah has sustained deep injuries to his head and back and has been receiving treatment at Janakpur Zonal Hospital.
Superintendent of Police Sarvendra Khanal said all three attackers are from Janakpur. Those arrested are Sushil Sah, Santosh Sah and Samir Jha. Police said they are investigating into the arrested three. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.
Freedom Forum denounces the incident and asks the local authority to investigate the incident at the earliest. Further, the Forum urges the security forces to guarantee security situation for the victim journalist. As the three attackers have been nabbed, it is not difficult to find the motive behind the attack. So, the Forum calls upon the government to bring the all perpetrators to book as soon as possible.
