As the deadline of the Constituent Assembly is round the corner, flurry of strikes and banda has been organized with various demands which has crippled the main cities across the country hitting hard the public life. Press is one of the victims in such disorder.
Freedom Forum has been concerned over yet another anti-press incident occurred at Vanasthali in the Capital on May 27, a day before the deadline of the Constituent Assembly.
The vehicle belonging to the Kantipur Television to carry the journalists was stopped and torched by an unknown person by forcing out the driver from the vehicle, reasoning the defiance of the banda (general strike) according to the www.ekantipur.com, an online news portal of the Kantipur Publications. The incident occurred early morning. It was learnt that Nepal banda was called by Chure Bhabar Rastriya Ekta Party.
As it is the attack on media, Freedom Forum strongly urges the government to make special arrangement to protect press and media persons at the adverse situations.
