Freedom Forum's attention has been drawn towards an incident occurred at Panauti of Kavre, a district adjoining to the capital city on November 2, 2011.
Three unidentified persons snapped the wires and took away batteries from the station of the Prime FM 104 which disrupted the FM service.
Talking to Media Monitoring Desk of Freedom Forum by telephone, Station Manager, Ashok Byanju, said, "Three masked persons manhandled and threatened the security guard, broke into FM station and snapped the wires and took away batteries which disrupted the FM service for two hours from 5:00pm on November 2."
He added that similar incident occurred in the FM station 10 days ago too. However, the miscreants could not be identified.
The loot disrupted the dissemination of the news which directly deprived people of their right to know/information. It challenged the media freedom.
Therefore, Freedom Forum urges the concerned authorities to search the miscreants and bring them to book in order to prevent the repetition of such incidents. If such incidents are not checked, the impunity would continue growing.
