Police took Female reporter and a camera person under control

Correspondent with TV Today, aired from capital city Kanta Giri and her camera person were misbehaved by a college administration while reporting on November 12 in Kathmandu.

Talking to Freedom Forum, Reporter Giri said, "After pre-information, we reached Institute of Management Studies at 1 pm for reporting on its educational programs. Director of the college refused to co-operate with us. After that, we requested the administration to help us.  But, admin staffs refused to talk to us and spoke foul. They called Police who took us to the Singha Durbar police station and released us after four hours", complained reporter.

On futher query, reporter Giri stated that they have not filed any case against college administration. They had gone to an inquiry on the basis of a complaint from students pressed to media. The college administration's were said to be ignorant about providing transfer certificates to its students.

Freedom Forum has serious concern over such an attitude of the educated citizen towards media. Free reporting about the wrongdoings in society; be it any sector is the prime job of journalists. Hence, FF urges concerned authority to realize the value of free press and right to information and apologize for their assault to media persons.
