Journalist mistreated while reporting

Correspondent at National News Agency (RSS) Purna Prasad Mishra was misbehaved by an unknown gang in course of reporting an assignment at Gothathar, Kathmandu on May 17, 2018.

Taking to legal desk of Freedom Forum, correspondent Mishra shared, "While taking pictures of the ongoing Bagmati beutification work near bridge over the Bagmati River in Gothathar, a group of 5-7 people surrounded and threatened me to delete the photographs. They said that they were supervisor team of the Kalika construction.”

They also asked me why I was there and with whose permission I clicked pictures, correspondent Mishra informed.

“Again, after seizing my identity card they ordered me to delete the picture if I wanted my card back. I somehow managed to take my card back after they took my picture,” he further stated.

After the incident Mishra registered the complaint at Boudha Police Range.

Freedom Forum condemns the mistreatment against the Journalist Mishra as it is sheer violation of press freedom and right to information. Hence, FF urges the concerned authority to take concrete action against the perpetrators and ensure proper security to the journalists.
