Freedom Forum is sharing that the publication of all daily and weekly newspapers published from Dang district has been closed owing to risks stemming from possible outbreak of COVID-19 even from newspaper copies. Dang lies in province no. 5
Publishers of all local newspapers informed that they have closed down publication of newspapers as it emerged difficulty in taking printed copies to the doorsteps of clients due to lockdown and fear of possible transmission of coronavirus through the medium of newspapers.
However, local radio and FM stations have been airing news after closing many other programs.
Seven daily newspapers and a dozen weekly are being published from Dang. Nevertheless, all print media outlets have been disseminating news and information from the online medium.
FF appreciates the newspaper's decision to at least continue online edition to inform society and demands management to ensure safety gear at this difficult time. Together FF requests reporters to maintain safety measures and strongly urges concerned media houses to assist its journalists to equip with safety accessories because reporters are always in the frontline. Role of media to serve people with credible news and information is bigger at crisis. welcomes the efforts of media houses for making news dissemination possible from the online platform despite all the hurdles.
