Freedom Forum welcomes Dhanusha District Court verdict for awarding life imprisonment to Sanjay Sah "Takla" who is the mastermind in the murder of media entrepreneur and journalist Arun Singhaniya. A single bench of Judge Radha Krishna Uprety awarded life imprisonment to Takla on 2nd July 2019.
Sah, who is also a former minister of state for physical planning and transport is already serving life imprisonment for his involvement in the bombing at Janakpur that claimed five lives.
Arun Singhaniya was a journalist and publisher at Janakpur Today who was killed on March 1st, 2010. It was the day of celebration of the Holi festival. After nearly five years of the murder, Arun's son Rahul on April 29, 2014, filed a complaint at the District Police Office.
The District Court also awarded 10 years jail term to Manak Lama who was used as the shooter for the killing of Singhaniya. Also, Binod Lama and Ram Binod Yadav were served 10 and five years jail respectively for their involvement in planning and plotting of the murder. The court however acquitted Ansi Rain and Rajkaran Yadav in the case.
Freedom Forum appreciates the move of Dhanusha District Court which finally served justice to the journo family after 9 nine years of the incident.
