Metro Police misbehaved journalist, damaged his phone

Journalist Rahul Kumar Singh editor of Roja Today Daily was misbehaved and attacked by security official on August 30 in Janakpur, Dhanusha. Dhanusha, district lies in Province 2 of Nepal.

According to the Freedom Forum representative for Province 2 Rajan Kumar Singh, Metro Police Dhruba Mishra misbehaved and attacked journalist Singh at Bhanu Chowk of Janakpurdham while he was capturing the riot between the local and police. Mishra snatched the mobile phone that journalist was using to shoot the video and damaged it by breaking the cell phone.

Freedom Forum condemns the incident that obstructed journalist's right to free reporting. It is the sheer violation of press freedom and freedom of information. Also FF condemns the intimidation of police officer and his actions for damaging the journalist property. Therefore FF urges the concerned stakeholders to take action against the culprit and compensate the damaged property of the journalist.
