AUGUST 13, 2008 Kathmandu-Freedom Forum congratulates Dr. Yadav on his election as the first President of democratic republic Nepal, and wishes his successful leadership particularly in marching the country towards building new constitution.
Freedom Forum hails Nepal's first-elect President Dr Ram Baran Yadav's statement that press freedom would be one of the guiding principles in the nation's move towards building a new and democratic Nepal in the new context.
Taking charge of office on Wednesday following the swear-in ceremony, honorable President Dr Yadav told his deputies at the President's House that international standards of democracy, human rights as well as press freedom would be the foundation on which Nepal would set its future course.
On the occasion, the President also stressed on national unity, integrity, reconstruction and the peace process as the priorities before the nation.
Freedom Forum considers the President's reference to press freedom as highly significant at a time when the nation will soon prepare itself to write the new constitution through the historic Constituent Assembly.
