Reporter at emustangnews.com Sundar Kumar Thakali received abusive messages in mobile over news reporting on September 14. Mustang lies in Gandaki Province of Nepal.
Reproter Thakali shard with Freedom Forum that he had covered video and news reports on the news portal on September 12. New reports are about container truck drivers' protest outside Mustang Customs Office at the China-Northern Korala border point. They had staged protest alleging that container trucks were allegedly damaged while taking to Liji Port to load goods. Following this, he received life-threatening and abusive messages through Whatsapp.
Then, he filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Mustang Deputy Superintendent of Police Ram Chandra Tiwari seeking necessary action against the individual on September 14.
Thakali told FF that DPO has assured him of fair investigation in the case.
Freedom Forum is concerned over the incident. Threatening and abusing journalist over reporting is sheer violation of press freedom.
