Scribe Thrashed

Editor of the Janaastha Weekly and Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kishor Shrestha was thrashed by an unruly group at Thapathali in the capital on July 28, Monday while he was going to office.The unscrupulous group did not stop misbehaving with him even after he showed his press card. He sustained injuries on his hands and leg and his motorbike with the registration number Ba 10 Pa 5371 was also vandalized.

Terming this incident of thrashing journalist a straight violation of press freedom, Freedom Forum said peoples' right to get information will also be fringed when journalists on dury are harassed and obstructed. Considering this situation, the Forum asks with the government to bring the perpetrators to book and come up with special measures to ensure workable environment for journalists.
