Kantipur Scribe Assaulted in Janakpur

An unidentified group physically assaulted and injured Kantipur daily’s Janakpur correspondent Manika Jha on April 7. She was attacked by a group of four-five persons at Mujeliya in Janakpur-Dhalkebar road section in the southern plain of Nepal when she was returning home from an election campaign meet of the Nepali Congress at Sapahi on Tuesday.

Jha said the assailants also tore her clothes and bag. She has returned home after treatment at Janakpur Zonal Hospital.

Terming this incident a blow against press freedom, Freedom Forum deplored the tendency of harassing journalists' at-work. The Forum demands the government to curb such anti-press incidents on rise in Nepal and bring guilty into justice.
